Student Life
Leadership means lifelong learning — learning about yourself, others and the world around you.
Mission
To provide and support theoretical, practical and experiential leadership training and development opportunities through purposeful and collaborative efforts between academics and student services that help students develop the skills necessary to confront society’s critical issues and to promote social change through global understanding and civic involvement.
The leadership training programs, retreats and organizations for St. Edward’s University students offer unique opportunities to gain the skills and knowledge required to become effective leaders.
LeaderShape
Enhance your leadership skills by attending LeaderShape. Through this interactive program, you’ll clarify your role as a leader at St. Edward’s and beyond.
Student Leadership Team
The Student Leadership Team helps students develop and enhance their leadership and communication skills in a fun environment. These leaders will also assist other student organizations in improving their communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Hilltop Leaders Program
Student Life and the Student Leadership Team invite students with limited leadership training to foster new
skills through the Hilltop Leaders Program. Students will learn about:
- Who they are as leaders
- Ways leadership manifests itself in various settings
- How to apply new skills through the university’s service projects
- Facilitators in Training
Leaders direct a group in determining which path to take. Facilitators offer a group the skills to find their own paths. Facilitators in Training is a semester-long program that helps students acquire the skills needed to facilitate organizational and academic groups through team-building activities. The program is sponsored by the Student Leadership Team, a chartered organization sponsored through Student Life. Upon completion of this program, participants will have the opportunity to apply to the Student Leadership Team.
- Cabo Lead is an exciting new global leadership program offered only at St. Edward’s. Participants will study a number of topics as they relate to the Southern Baja Peninsula of Mexico, including:
- History
- Economics
- Politics
- Social issues
After completing the six-week course, students will travel to the region and experience this dynamic culture firsthand. The Student Leadership Team will participate in the first year of Cabo Lead. Following the pilot program, students will be able to apply for 15 available spaces each year.
