Facilitators in Training

Facilitators in Training is a semester-long program implemented by the Student Leadership Team (SLT) each spring semester where students learn the skills needed to facilitate group experiences. Participants gain practical knowledge and experience while working with trained facilitators in a fun environment.

Student leaders learn effective communications techniques through games and activities designed to foster facilitation skills.

As a Facilitator in Training you will:

  • Train in the facilitation of low-ropes activities
  • Practice teambuilding exercises
  • Learn the stages of group development
  • Learn to help groups identify and resolve problems
  • Enhance your leadership and communication skills
  • Interact with professional facilitators in a relaxed, hands-on environment

Students who complete the Facilitators in Training program successfully are eligible to work with the Student Leadership Team, which offers the opportunity for you to continue your leadership development training and to help facilitate stronger student organizations through teambuilding and low ropes elements, as well as assist in the program implementation of Hilltop Leaders and Facilitators in Training.

For questions contact Adam DeVos, director of facilitation and training.
