Multicultural Events and Programs

Student Life sponsors multicultural committees and supports a variety of programs and events that celebrate different cultures, educate the university community about multiculturalism and diversity issues, and promote social justice. We encourage you to come out and enjoy these annual events!

Cultural Observances
  • Black Heritage Month: February marks Black Heritage Month, an annual celebration of Black culture. Sponsored events have included poetry, panel discussions and movies. The Student Life Office joins in this annual celebration of African American heritage by sponsoring or co-sponsoring educational events and entertainment throughout the month.

  • Hispanic Heritage Month: Hispanic heritage runs deep in Texas and at St. Edward's University. The Student Life Office honors this dynamic culture annually by sponsoring or co-sponsoring historical and contemporary educational events and entertainment, including La Feria (celebrates the Independence of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Chile), Spanish Mass, documentaries and panel discussions.

  • International Education Week: Initiated by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, International Education Week promotes intercultural exchange and understanding. Schools and universities throughout the United States celebrate this observance in mid-November, encouraging students to take advantage of the international opportunities that are available to them.

Students rally for the Martin Luther King March.
