Sarah Demmel

During her undergraduate career, Sarah Demmel made a consistently conscious effort to make a difference in the lives of others.

Even though Sarah was focused on earning a BA in Computer Information Science, she was heavily involved in Campus Ministry and other social-justice activities outside the classroom. She was a participant in the Alternative Spring Break program for three years, was selected to participate in the inaugural Ireland Immersion Experience and volunteered as Eucharistic minister coordinator for nearly two years. She also served in the Office of Student Life as an event coordinator for the University Programming Board and participated in multiple Founders' Day community service projects.

Sarah was named Outstanding Computer Information Science student during her junior and senior years and completed a prestigious internship at IBM. For her senior project, she built a database for the Residence Life Office that involved learning two programming languages.

A staff member said, "Sarah is ever striving to engage the whole community to answer the call to social justice and she sets the example by starting with herself."
