About the Presidential Awards
What are the Presidential Awards?
Each year, a select group of graduates receive Presidential Awards. These awards are given to outstanding seniors and graduate students who have embodied the principles of the Holy Cross tradition and the mission of the university and have demonstrated excellence in:
- Leadership
- Academic performance
- Service to the university and other communities
Because Presidential Awards are intended to recognize student members of our community, employees who also attend St. Edward’s and receive tuition remission are not eligible.
What do Presidential Awards recipients receive?
Presidential Awards recipients receive:
- A glass-encased award containing a certificate signed by President
George E. Martin
- Individual acknowledgement on Honor’s Night by President Martin, including comments on the recipient’s accomplishments
In addition, photos and descriptions of each recipient’s accomplishments hang in the Robert and Pearle Ragsdale Center and appear on the Student Life web pages for one year. Names are then added to the online listing of past recipients.
What qualifications are required of applicants?
Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the awards:
- Must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
