This diverse organization provides a support structure
for minority and non-minority students interested in medicine
and science. It provides and promotes positive and practical
experiences such as medical school and research visits,
hospital volunteer opportunities, guest speakers, educational
field trips, medical and research summer programs and internships,
presentations at conferences, fundraising for research ,and
taking mock exams.

The Academy of Science promotes scientific interest, education,
and research inside and outside of the SEU community and
contributes to the personal development of its members.
Alpha Phi
Omega:
Category: Community Service Organization
Dedicated to serving humanity, Alpha Phi Omega is a national
service fraternity based upon the principles of leadership,
friendship, and service. APO serves the community, campus,
and nation.
(SEU) Accounting
Club:
The objectives of the Accounting Club are: 1) to
unite accounting students, 2) provide information about
degree requirements, CPA exams, and reviews, and 3) to teach
teamwork skills and encourage community involvement.
Alpha Chi:
Alpha Chi is a co-educational national honor society
whose purpose is to promote exemplary character among college
and university students and to honor those achieving such
distinction. A general academic honor society, as contrasted
with a specialized one, Alpha Chi admits to its membership
students from all academic disciplines. Membership is by
invitation only and is based upon academic standing in the
top ten percent of the junior and senior classes based upon
cumulative GPA.

Phi Omega (APO):
Dedicated to serving humanity, Alpha Phi Omega is
a national service fraternity based upon the principles
of leadership, friendship, and service. APO serves the community,
campus, and nation.
Alpha Phi
Sigma:
Alpha Phi Sigma is a co-educational, academic honor
society whose purpose is to recognize and promote high scholarship
among university students engaged in undergraduate preparation
for professional service in the various fields of law and
justice administration. Membership is by invitation only
and is predicated upon a criminal justice major, having
earned at least a cumulative GPA of 3.6, and 45 hours of
undergraduate study.
Alpha Psi
Omega:
An Alpha Eta chapter, Alpha Psi Omega is an honorary dramatic
fraternity, which promotes excellence and encourages fellowship
among theatre majors.
Alpha
Sigma Lambda:
Alpha Sigma Lambda is an honor society which fosters
academic excellence, community service, and leadership for
adult students. To qualify, students must be at least 23
years old, have a minimum GPA of 3.2, and 30 graded hours
(15 of which are outside the major area of study).
Anthropology
Club:
The purpose of the Anthropology Club is to have lively
discussions on issues from an anthropological perspective
and to organize field trips of anthropological interest.

Best
Buddies
The mission of Best Buddies is to enhance the lives
of people will intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities
for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. We
do this at the college level by matching college student
volunteers in mutually enriching friendships with persons
with intellectual disabilities.
Bilingual
Education Student Organization (BESO):
The Bilingual Student Organization promotes bilingual
and bicultural education on campus and in the Austin community.
BESO offers special training workshops and programs that
encourage professional development.

This organization strives to promote interaction
among students actively engaged in collegiate preparation
for professional services, to elevate ethical standards
of the Criminal Justice professions, and to establish in
the public mind the benefit and necessity of education and
professional training.

Delta Sigma Pi, Theta Omega Chapter, is a co-educational
business fraternity that fosters the study of business in
universities and encourages scholarship, social activity,
and association of students for their mutual advancement
by research and practice.

Club:
This organization promotes environmental awareness
and peaceful action, while encouraging its members to take
steps both on and off campus to improve the environment.

Gay,
Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Student Association
(GLBTSA):
The purpose of this organization is to serve as a
support group for the SEU gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered
community. It also seeks to end discrimination and violence
directed toward the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered community
through education. Allies and supporters are encouraged
to become active participants.
Global
Innovators:
The purpose of this organization is to create opportunities
beneficial for all students interested in pursuing careers
anywhere in the world through unique creative activities,
Events & Activities, service projects, continuing education,
and networking with students and professionals. In addition,
the objective shall be to mentor members in university life
and assist their transition into the campus community.
The Great
Society:
This group promotes political interest among students
and encourages political discussion beyond the classroom
setting. The group attends political events off-campus,
hosts speakers, and organizes debates.

Habitat
for Humanity:
Habitat For Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical
Christian housing ministry that seeks to make decent shelter
a matter of conscience and action.
Hispanic
Student Association:
The Hispanic Student Association strives to advance
the aims and ideals of Hispanics on campus and in the Austin
community by sponsoring meetings and cultural events and
by participating in off-campus functions.
International
Student Association:
The International Student Organization fosters friendship
and assistance among international students and others interested
in international exchange. The club also promotes educational,
cultural, and social events on campus. Japanese Culture
Club: The purpose of this organization is to promote learning
and enjoyment of the Japanese language and culture.

Ladies
In Charge:
The purpose and mission of Ladies in Charge is to
strengthen and educate students, faculty, and all staff
at SEU about women’s issues. Ladies in Charge will
also conduct volunteer work in the community. This organization
coordinates events to educate members on women’s hardships,
rights, and accomplishments, and on how to care for a woman’s
body.
La Sphere
Francaise:
This organization promotes the use of French among
the members of the organization. It also promotes travel
to France and to other French speaking countries in order
to help learn the culture.
Literature
and Writing Society (English Club):
This society provides opportunities on campus to
promote interest in literature and English. Students also
gather together to foster all aspects of the discipline
of English, including literature, language, and writing.

Mathematical
Association of America (MAA):
The purpose of MAA is to promote mathematics at SEU. The
organization is open to all students. Members participate
in a variety of activities including conferences and social
functions.
MEXA:
El Movimiento Estudiantil Chicana/o de Atlan (MEXA)
is a socio-political organization whose aim is to continue
the struggle initiated by the Chicana/o Movement of the
1960’s. The purpose of the organization is to develop
leadership skills within the students and to establish cultural
and political awareness throughout campus.

New
College Activity Association:
The purpose of this association is to create a sense
of community among New College students and promote campus
involvement. It provides social gathering for students,
faculty, and staff. The group focuses on providing current
New College students with information about facilities and
services available at St. Edward’s University.

Phi
Alpha Delta:
This fraternity seeks to promote the principles of
liberty and equal justice under the law for all citizens
and to provide a forum for the interchange between members
of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International.
Psi Chi:
Psi Chi is the national honor society in psychology
whose purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence
and advancement in the science of psychology. Membership
is open to both graduate and undergraduate students with
at least three semesters of college experience and nine
hours of psychology. A member must have at least a 3.0 GPA
and demonstrate superior scholarship in psychology.
Psychological
Society:
The Psychological Society encourages psychology majors
and minors to informally interact with faculty and other
members. Students will discuss career and major related
information.

Ragsdale
Service Organization (RSO):
Designed to help the community by lending a helping
hand and dealing with strong issues, RSO is committed to
making this world a better place. By participating in March
of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity, the Egg Ministry, Meals
on Wheels, and Shelter for battered women, RSO takes the
first steps to reaching their goal.
Rotaract:
Rotaract is an organization of young men and women
who want to make a difference through service, social, and
professional activities. The club is sponsored by the South
Austin Rotary Club and is affiliated with thousands of young
people on an international basis. SEU has the only such
club in Austin. Rowdy Hilltoppers: The organization
encourages school spirit and participation at school events,
mostly athletics.

Edward’s Communication Society (SECS):
This organization unites members for the purpose
of promoting the advancement of women and men in all fields
of communications, working for the First Amendment rights
and responsibilities of communicators, recognizing distinguished
professional achievements, and promoting high professional
standards throughout the communication industry.

Educators (SEE):
This group provides SEU with a pre-professional organization
for graduate and undergraduate students in education who
have not been salaried teachers.

Tour Guides:
This organization gives campus tours to prospective
students, parents, alumni, and various high school groups.
SEU Ballet
Folklorico:
This organizations purpose is to educate the St.
Edward's University community through a unique medium. Using
traditional Latin American dances, Ballet helps students
become aware of the cultural diversity of SEU. Members participate
in performances and bring a lively form of cultural entertainment
to our campus.
SEU Outdoors
Club:
Promoting the appreciation of nature along with active
engagement in outdoor sports is the focus of Outdoor Escapades.
This organization teaches teamwork, leadership techniques,
and survival skills in the wild.
Social
Justice Coalition (SJC):
This coalition strives to promote social justice
through a variety of means such as building awareness, empowering
others, and affecting change. The coalition collaborates
and embraces the opportunity to work with other organizations
to affect change. SJC attempts to build awareness, empower
others, and affect change through tackling issues, promoting
dialogue, and presenting an action activity.
Society
for Human Resource Management:
This is the leading voice of the human resources
professional. Participation will build knowledge in the
human resource field, and develop valuable leadership and
organizational skills. Members will have opportunities to
network with local human resource professionals.
Student
Ambassadors:
Student Ambassadors assist the Office of Undergraduate
Admission recruitment efforts by acting as representatives
for prospective students and their parents. They participate
in visitation weekends, community service events, college
nights, phonothons, and campus tours. The goal is to promote
the value of a St. Edward’s education both on and
off campus.
The Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee (SAAC):
This committee, mandated by the NCAA, serves as a
vehicle for student-athlete input into Athletic Department
affairs. Membership includes one elected representative
from each intercollegiate team. The committee is used to
solicit input on department policies, to solicit response
to proposed NCAA legislation affecting student-athletes,
to disseminate information in an efficient manner to all
student-athletes, to organize community service projects,
and to create a vehicle for student-athlete representation
on other campus committees.
Student
Global AIDS Campaign (SGAC):
The purpose of SGAC is to make the University aware
of the social injustices around the world dealing with AIDS.
SGAC brings speakers to the university to speak about the
current AIDS epidemic. Through fundraisers, SGAC gives donations
to help find a treatment in other countries. Students become
educated and aware of the current status of AIDS by attending
a conference.
Students
of African Heritage Association (SAHA):
The members of SAHA unite as one body to organize
and coordinate programs and matters concerning students
of African heritage. The organization also strives to improve
the social, cultural, recreational, and intellectual atmosphere
within the university.
Students
for an Ethical Diet (SED):
The purpose of SED is to raise campus awareness about
the benefits of moving toward a vegetarian diet. SED also
provides a supportive environment for students who are contemplating
or who are currently practicing a vegetarian lifestyle.
