Student Life
Service
Service is interwoven within the roots of Catholic social teaching and Holy Cross philosophy. This philosophy expresses a commitment to social justice and to the dignity of each person. Exposure to critical societal issues through service can help students:
- Clarify personal values
- Understand their motivations and goals
more fully
- Realize their responsibility to those who
are less fortunate
Student Life provides opportunities for service through participation in service organizations, activities, committees and scholarships.
The Student Service Council is a chartered organization through Student Life. This council was formed to encourage action on this campus, in response to the critical issues we are confronting in our society every day.
Act with us – as part of Student Service Council or in collaboration – as we work to make a difference. We take an active role in the education and formation of students, making service accessible for every student.
The Student Service Council embodies the St. Edward’s University philosophy of service by promoting awareness of social justice issues, encouraging civic engagement and empowering students to take action through service. The council fulfills this vision through educational programs and experiential service projects.
