Hands down, the “family” environment. Students, faculty, and staff at St. Edward’s are genuinely proud to be a part of what is happening here. When I first started working at St. Ed’s, I lost count of how many people said, “welcome to the family.”
The day would start with coffee and brunch at Bouldin Creek Café on South 1st (not too far from St. Ed’s campus!) followed by plenty of time outside. Hiking around the greenbelt, climbing at Reimers Ranch, or walking around town lake are all great options. Afternoon coffee with a good book is a must, and Mexican food (queso included) always sounds great for dinner. Sunny Saturdays in Austin are wonderful!
I love reading application essays because it is the most concrete way I can “hear” from a prospective student. Our graduate school serves a diverse population with students of all ages, backgrounds, and life experiences. I love hearing about each applicant’s journey and how they arrived at this point. The essay is a great way to “bridge the gap” between past experiences/education and a desired future at St. Edward’s. A well-written essay that shows a deep desire to learn and passion for your field is crucial to an application.
