October is the month for all students to meet with their academic advisors and get their PINs in order to register for Spring 2018 courses. Follow these must-do steps to make sure you’re ready to register in November. The deadline for advising is Oct. 31. Registration is open Nov. 9–14.

Advising Steps for Freshman Students

STEP 1: Visit your academic counselor to get advised on your Spring 2018 course schedule and receive your PIN. Check your academic counseling Canvas page for more information.

STEP 2: Connect with your financial advisor in Student Financial Services to resolve any holds on your student account. Log in to myHilltop and search “View Holds.”

Advising Steps for Upperclassman and Transfer Students

STEP 1: Log in to myHilltop to review Degree Works and identify courses needed to meet your degree plan. Then, build a plan in Degree Works.

STEP 2: Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to discuss your plan in Degree Works and receive your PIN. You can also find your academic advisor by accessing Degree Works.

STEP 3: Log in to myHilltop, and see if you have any registration holds (either from Student Financial Services or the Registrar). You must take care of any holds before you can register.

STEP 4: Log in to myHilltop, and review your assigned registration day.

Registration Steps

STEP 1: On your assigned day, log in to myHilltop and register for classes. Note: Your registration status may not be the same as your classification. To determine your assigned day, log in to myHilltop and click “Prepare for Registration.” Then, select “SP2018” and click continue. Look for the text that reads, “Your class standing for registration purposes is ____________.” Then, reference the schedule to determine your day for registration:

  • Thursday, Nov. 9 – Seniors (not graduating December 2017)
  • Friday, Nov. 10 – Juniors
  • Monday, Nov. 13 – Sophomores
  • Tuesday, Nov. 14 – Freshmen

STEP 2: If you experience unexpected issues when registering on your day, drop by the Registration Quick Fix. The following offices will provide academic and technical support to clear barriers and help you register: Student Financial Services, Registrar’s Office, IT, representatives from each school, Academic Counseling and Exploration, Academic Support Programs, and Career and Professional Development.
