Dr. Swinkels is Professor and Chair of Psychology. He has taught at St. Edward's since 1994, having previously taught at Loyola Marymount University and UCLA.

Dr. Swinkels routinely teaches courses in Statistics and Industrial/Organizational Psychology, but he has taught the majority of courses in the curriculum at one time or another. In 2001 he spent a semester as a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University, and in 2010 he was selected as the Texas Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. Dr. Swinkels creates a variety of educational materials for Pearson Education, Worth Publishers, and other academic publishers.
