Dr. Alvarado is serving as the Executive in Residence at The Bill Munday School of Business and is a member of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at St. Edward's University. He is also an attorney and was previously the Executive Director of the State Bar of Texas. Additionally, he founded the St. Edward's iChallenge pitch competition in 2011.
With many years as an attorney specializing in small business and as administrative head of the State Bar, Dr. Alvarado can explain to students the complexities of owning and succeeding in a small business as well as developing and monitoring budgets and negotiating with a broad variety of stakeholders. He is energetic, optimistic, and always willing to help students and colleagues. He describes his greatest reward from teaching as seeing students grow in their understanding and application of business concepts. "Mentoring students as they develop and present their creative ideas for business ventures at the annual Business Plan Competition is one of the most fulfilling things I do."
