Dr. Baker is a professor of computer science and chair of the Department of Computer Sciences. Dr. Baker is a past president of the Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges, and has served as regional editor of the Journal of Computing Sciences in Colleges for the past ten years.

Dr. Baker has taught computer science at St. Edward's for the past 26 years and she was awarded the University's Teaching Excellence Award in 2002. Dr. Baker has served as the computer science department chair for 13 years overseeing curriculum, student advising, and department faculty. Dr. Baker continues to be an active member of the Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges serving as regional editor and program chair for the South Central Region of the Consortium. Dr. Baker oversees student research projects and collaborates with other departments with project needs. Dr. Baker is currently researching computer science pedagogy involving project code testing and student learning.
