LAINIE FRASIER

Lainie Frasier began her career at the age of four appearing on camera in a series of commercials for Winn‘s Variety Stores and instantly knew her life’s calling.  Following her dream to the University of Texas, she received a BFA in Acting with honors.  She proceeded to become a top voice-over talent, producer, sound designer and voice-over instructor in a business few can master.  As an award-winning voice-over artist, she has voiced over 3000 commercials, industrials, animation and gaming projects as well as appearing in theatre, film, and television.  For the past 25 years she has been sharing her talent, expertise, and passion with thousands of eager students, many of who have gone on to successful careers of their own.

“As a performer I became fascinated with all things audio and began learning the nuts and bolts of sound production,” she recalls.  “Over the years countless people came up to me asking for advice.  I knew I had to share my knowledge to help them follow their dream.”

After several years as Studio Manager at Austin’s prestigious Production Block Studios, Lainie began successfully teaching voice-over technique.  In 2001, Lainie created VoiceWorks, a unique corporation devoted to talent training, sound production and professional consultation.  Increasingly in demand as an instructor, she was subsequently invited to teach at the University of Texas’ Informal Classes and as a master class instructor for the University of Texas Department of Threatre and Dance, the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and now at St. Edward’s University.

One of Lainie’s goals is to get voice-over recognized as a regular course of study in universities.  In 2010 she co-wrote a college textbook, Speak Skillfully and Successfully:  A Guide to Developing Diction and Voice-Over Excellence, with Diane Howard, Ph. D (McGraw-Hill.)

Lainie remains passionate and committed to opening up career opportunities to a new generation of voice artists.

I want my classes to be everything I ever wanted in a class. I don’t want students to take my class and walk out saying ‘that was fun but what did I really learn?’ I want my classes to be practical with techniques they will use every time on every project.

Working behind the microphone is thrilling, but helping other talents reach their full potential is my greatest reward.
