In the summer of 2017, Freshman Studies will take students to Costa Rica to explore Food Justice in depth. This two-week immersive trip will be a culmination of a year-long engagement with the common theme. Students joining us on this trip will enroll in one of two classes in spring 2017: a CULF 1318 course called Literature and the Power of Food or CULF 1320, The American Experience which will frame many social justice issues around food studies.  After students complete the spring course they will continue learning in Costa Rica for two weeks in May.
