Dr. Keller will discuss her research on two Fulbright-Hays Summer Abroad programs to China and Jordan. Religious and heritage tourism in Jordan is essential to income diversity. However, Israel contests the legitimacy of Jordan River biblical sites and ethnic communities, like the Bedouin of Petra, resist relocation. In China, building the Three Gorges Dam, the largest hydroelectric dam in the world, has also come at a great price. Dr. Keller will discuss these transformations, as well as the development of these heritage tours.
