Case of Turkish Politics - Democracy and democratization in developing countries is a widely discussed topic in political science. What conditions are necessary to establish and sustain democracy? In this lecture we will evaluate Turkish case and experience with democracy and how democracy has evolved over the last few years. We will discuss elections and electoral competition, checks/balances and civil liberties in Turkey. We will also focus on the recent military coup attempt and its effects in Turkish politics.
