Dr. Aaron Magnan-Park, Assistant Professor of Film, Television, and Theatre at the University of Notre Dame will explore 19th century caricatures that reduced China to “the sick man of Asia” preoccupied with “meaningless spiritual victories.” He will discuss how Bruce Lee’s films transformed China's image to the "strong man of Asia” and in the process created a “new template of Chinese masculinity” that resulted in international emulation.
Light refreshments will be served. Event is free and open to the public. Funded by the Communication Speakers Series with support from the School of Humanities and the Communication department.
