Edna Adan is an activist and pioneer in the struggle for the abolition of female circumcision, she is also the president of the Organization for Victims of Torture. In 2002 she opened the Edna Hospital in Hargeisa, Somaliland. Adan’s hospital currently has a mortality rate one quarter of the national average and she is working to bring medical care to all of Somaliland.
A 40-minute version of the PBS documentary Half the Sky will be presented along with a discussion with Adan after the documentary. Seating is limited.
