In Having Second Thoughts Richard Fruth presents artworks ranging from whimsical and humorous landscapes to scenes constructed from abstract forms and deliberate surface manipulation. His works depict conflicts between figures and landscape, between figures and unseen forces, and within figures as they reflect upon themselves. These figures engage in ambiguous states of dream/reality and fear/confusion, with humor rising from horrific personal and social experiences. Fruth’s works allow the viewer to unravel the story, leaving them with an appreciation of their mystery.
