The McCarthy Lecture Series will feature Wendy M. Wright, Professor of Theology and John C. Kenefick Faculty Chair in the Humanities at Creighton University. She will be speaking about "Mary and the Catholic Imagination." The series honors the Most Reverend John McCarthy, who led the Diocese of Austin from 1985 to 2001, and to underscore the university's commitment to its Catholic roots and Holy Cross heritage. Event is open to the public. Reception to follow. Complimentary valet parking provided.
In addition to the lecture, St. Edward's will show a 25-piece exhibit that explores the nature of the Catholic imagination as viewed through the lens of the many faces of the Virgin Mary as she is discovered in the "minority majority" Catholic archdiocese of Los Angeles. The photographic exhibit runs Oct. 26 - Nov. 2, 2012, in the St. Edward's Fine Arts Gallery. The Fine Arts Gallery is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
