The Royal Road of Texas is a historic landmark which spans Spanish, Mexican and early American history. Professor Charles Porter and Dr. J.F. de la Teja will discuss how natural pathways became El Camino Real. The development of the Royal Road was enormously influential in the development of Texas in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Also celebrating the Royal Road, an exhibit of old maps, engravings and photos depicting how Spain and Mexico were intertwined with Texas will be in the Scarborough-Phillips library from September 18-27. These events are In commoration of National Hispanic Heritage month.
