On Saturday, Sept. 26 St. Edward’s will again be the venue sponsor for the Texas Teen Book Festival (texasteenbookfestival.org) This one-day festival takes place on campus from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. A full lineup of more than 30 authors represents some of the most popular and critically acclaimed writers in the Young Adult genre.
The keynote speaker is Emmy Award-winning actress and writer Sonia Manzano, best known for her role as “Maria” on the PBS series Sesame Street. After more than four decades on the show, Manzano announced her retirement last month and will present her latest work, a coming-of-age memoir entitled Becoming Maria: Love and Chaos in the South Bronx, from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. in the Recreation and Convocation Center.  
Those who will be on campus over the weekend should expect a significant increase in vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
