Congratulations on your acceptance to St. Edward’s University! The information below is intended for recently admitted international students. If you have not yet been admitted, please contact the Office of Admissions.
To study as an international student in the United States, you need a Form I-20 "Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student (F-1) Status." This form grants you eligibility to apply for an F-1 student visa.
To study as an exchange student in the United States, you need a Form DS-2019, "Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor (J-1) Status.” This form grants you eligibility to apply for a J-1 exchange visitor visa.
Upon acceptance to SEU, please email copies of the following documents to iss [at] stedwards.edu. We cannot issue your Form I-20 or DS-2019 until we receive all of these documents.
Once your file is complete, we will issue your Form I-20 or DS-2019 then mail original copies of this document along with your official acceptance letter to you in your home country. Batch mailing occurs twice each month, so there may be a slight delay in the processing of your documents. Please be patient. You will be notified by email once your documents have shipped so that you can track your package.
Upon receipt of your Form I-20 or Form DS-2019 – included in the official Welcome Packet mailed to all new students – you should begin the visa application process <link to page>.
If you are currently enrolled at a U.S. based educational institution (highschool, ESL Program, college/university) you will need to submit a Transfer Eligibility Form in addition to the documents above.. You, the student, must complete Section I then send the form to your current international student advisor. They should return the completed form to iss [at] stedwards.edu. We can only issue your new I-20 after your SEVIS record is transferred
