Transforming the Hilltop
Leadership benefactors have already transformed the landscape of our hilltop campus. Now we seek to double our endowment and increase annual operating support through The Campaign for St. Edward’s University. Fundraising in these areas will open doors of opportunity for students while also helping them to succeed well beyond the hilltop.
Academic excellence, personal attention, international experience and self-discovery
When educators at St. Edward's connect these tenets, the outcomes are powerful …
- An alumnus honors the Holy Cross brother who helped him discover a passion for physics by establishing a scholarship in his name
- Parents of a Biology major fund a state-of-the-art lab where students and professors work side-by-side
- A professor sees firsthand how St. Edward's prepares his students to lead an ethical life — and preserves our mission with annual gifts
- Students lend their talents to a nonprofit in Costa Rica thanks to a family's decision to fund the university's Global Business and Social Justice Institute
Whatever the connection, those who make generous leadership gifts to the university understand these life-changing outcomes. Indeed, they make them possible. You can, too.
It's a word that drives the work of organizations across the globe. This is especially evident at St. Edward's University.
Our mission goes well beyond outlining our educational objectives. It articulates our very purpose, conveying the life-changing outcomes that happen when those who love to teach and those who want to learn come together. Every innovation, every discussion, every job description reflects the daily and constant pursuit of this mission.
The foundations that support our students share our commitment to the mission. They are valuable partners. They understand that a St. Edward's education transforms students' lives — as well as the local and global communities our students serve.
Gifts from foundations provide significant scholarships for our diverse student body, like the Monsanto Fund's decade of assistance for migrant students. Such gifts also fund opportunities for innovative research in areas like HIV drug resistance. And they provide crucial, consistent support for academics, like the Welch Foundation's longtime commitment to Chemistry faculty and students.
Through such philanthropy, we enhance the exceptional academic experience for which we are known. We also deepen the impact on each student we serve. Indeed, the generosity of foundations helps make our mission possible.
Corporate and Matching Giving
Though St. Edward's University has grown in both stature and size over the last decade, our bottom line hasn't changed: we transform lives
Through innovative partnerships with the university, your business can transform lives, too. Corporate giving to St. Edward's is an investment in an educated and ethical workforce that is ready to respond to the opportunities and challenges of today's global marketplace. Through our partnerships with businesses, and their vital role in creating learning opportunities at St. Edward's, our graduates enter the workforce with the knowledge, skills and passion to solve problems. They initiate positive change in their community and across the world. Your company can be an agent of such change, too. Here's how.
Of particular benefit to our students are the St. Edward's University Signature Internships. Created in 2010, and modeled after our successful decade-long partnership with the H-E-B Community Internship Program, St. Edward's University Signature Internships have a dual impact:
Providing a financial-aid eligible student with a paid career-building internship at a nonprofit organization
Strengthening the capacity of a local nonprofit through the work of a skilled intern who is well-equipped to help achieve organizational goals
A gift of $1,250 creates a semester-long, 100-hour internship for an organization such as Austin Children’s Shelter, Capital Area Food Bank, Caritas or Lifeworks.
Sponsorships help underwrite many ongoing university initiatives, such as student art exhibits, productions at the Mary Moody Northen Theatre, seminars and conferences, athletic events and alumni chapter activities. St. Edward's University works with each sponsor to ensure that the sponsorship package positions the corporation appropriately to its key market segments.
Corporate Matching Gifts
St. Edward's is grateful to companies that provide financial support through employee matching gift programs that extend charitable contributions made by their employees (and sometimes spouses and retirees). Corporate matching gifts leverage employee giving to support nearly every area of the university, including endowment, scholarships and research, teaching tools and equipment, and capital improvements. Please ask your employer if your gift to St. Edward's qualifies for a corporate match.
