Mission and vision
Expanding Your Worldview from the Hilltop
Study Abroad supports bringing St. Edward’s to the world and the world to St. Edward’s. The mission of Study Abroad is to actively promote international and intercultural understanding and to enrich the academic and cultural environment of St. Edward’s by facilitating the exchange of people and ideas. To do this, Study Abroad partners with students, faculty, staff, and the broader St. Edward’s community to create a vibrant campus environment in which international perspectives and multicultural understanding are actively integrated into curricular and co-curricular life. Study Abroad seeks to inspire in each member of the St. Edward’s community an expanded awareness, appreciation, understanding, and knowledge of the diversity and interconnectedness of the world's peoples and cultures.
Study Abroad is committed to:
- Supporting the St. Edward’s University mission in preparing global graduates who recognize their responsibility to the world community with thoughtful minds, caring hearts, and clarity of leadership.
- Advancing education abroad opportunities that encompass experiential, innovative, and career-focused learning.
- Developing and integrating education abroad programs into St. Edward’s curricular learning goals.
- Cultivating institutional partnerships to foster global experiences for the entire St. Edward’s community.
- Enhancing initiatives that foster intercultural and global competencies for students, faculty, staff, and the local community.
All of these efforts are implemented in the spirit of the Congregation of Holy Cross, from which it acquired distinguishing characteristics: the courage to take risks, an international perspective and the commitment to provide educational opportunities for students of varied cultural, religious, educational and economic backgrounds.
