St. Edward's Reflect, Volunteer, Engage (S.E.R.V.E.) provides varying levels of leadership opportunities for students:
S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day Coordinators
S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day Coordinators assist in the planning, implementation and assessment of university-wide episodic service opportunities. There are five S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day Coordinators who have a shared, rotating responsibility of the following projects: First Year Service Project, Founders Day Service Project, Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Service Project, Homecoming Service Project, and National Holy Cross Day of Service. Roles consist of oversight, participants, logistics, team leads and communication.
Senior Team Leads
Senior Team Leads support the S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day Coordinators in implementing service projects. Tasks given to Senior Team Leads hold more responsibility and are crucial as projects continue to increase in size. Senior Team Leads help create a smooth and enjoyable experience for student participants. We ask Senior Team Leads to have participated as a Team Lead for at least one semester.
Team Leads are individuals who assist in facilitating a small group of students during the S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day projects. Team Leads will be assigned a group of 8-10 students whom they will be responsible for and available to, to answer questions, provide guidance, lead reflection and build rapport. In addition to leading a small group, Team Leads will also assist with the set-up and clean-up of the S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day project. Team Leads should be passionate about service, have strong leadership skills, be good communicators, and set a good example.
S.E.R.V.E. Austin leaders serve as a conduit between participants, staff at the organization, and the Office of Community Engagement. The program focuses on developing existing participants into leadership roles through an increase in responsibilities to their sites and groups. Some of the responsibilities of leaders include: keeping accurate records of attendance, leading reflections, and helping at socials.
