All the work in the Office of Community Engagement would not be possible without a group of committed, passionate student leaders.  Student leadership opportunities are available at different time commitments.  As a student leader with the Office of Community Engagement, you will be able to learn more about leadership theory, social change, program planning, facilitation, and much more. 

In addition to supporting the Office of Community Engagement, in a leadership position you acquire experience and skill sets that will elevate your resume.

Position Requirements

The next application process for leadership positions in the Office of Community Engagement will begin spring 2017.  Coordinators will be selected late spring 2017 and begin with few responsibilities in the spring, but should expect to return to campus for training in August 2017.

All leadership positions for the Office of Community Engagment have the following requirements:

  • Maintain at least a ____GPA
  • Be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student at St. Edward's University
  • Be available for Spring 2017 training, date TBD
  • Be available for Fall 2017 training, dates TBD

S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day Coordinators

S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day Coordinators are student leadership positions that assist in the planning, implementation and assessment of university wide episodic service opportunities.  There are five S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day Coordinators who have a shared, rotating responsibility of the following projects:  First Year Service Project, Founders Day Service Project, Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Service Project, Homecoming Service Project, and National Holy Cross Day of Service.  Roles consist of oversight, participants, logistics, team leads and communication.

Senior Team Leads

Senior Team Leads support the S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day Coordinators in implementing service projects.  Tasks given to Senior Team Leads hold more responsibility and are crucial as projects continue to increase in size.  Senior Team Leads help create a smooth and enjoyable experience for student participants.  We ask Senior Team Leads to have participated as a Team Lead for at least one semester.  More specific position responsibilities can be found in the position description {hyperlink to Box document}.

Team Leads

Team Leads are individuals who assist in facilitating a small group of students during the S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day project.  Team Leads will be assigned a group of 8-10 students whom they will be responsible for and available to, to answer questions, provide guidance, lead reflection and build rapport. In addition to leading a small group, Team Leads will also assist with the set-up and clean-up of the S.E.R.V.E. 1 Day project.  Team Leads should be passionate about service, have strong leadership skills, be good communicators, and set a good example.  More specific position responsibilities can be found in the position description {hyperlink to Box document}. 

S.E.R.V.E. Austin Leaders

S.E.R.V.E. Austin leaders serve as a conduit between participants, staff at the organization, and the Office of Community Engagement.  The program focuses on developing existing participants into leadership roles through an increase in responsibilities to their sites and groups.  Some of the responsibilities of leaders include: keeping accurate records of attendance, leading reflections, and helping at socials.  More information about the responsibilities can be found on the position description {hyperlink Box}.
