Welcome to the St. Edward's University Family!

Parent and Family Orientation is an opportunity for you to learn more about the St. Edward’s University experience. It is the shared responsibility of students, faculty, staff, family and friends to make a student’s educational journey successful. We invite you to partner with us in supporting your student.

At your Orientation, there will be sessions addressing the university’s mission, academic requirements, faculty expectations and university resources. In addition, you will have the opportunity to meet current student leaders, other new families and university administrators.

First-Year Student Family and Friends

While you are here, you may attend a dedicated Parent and Family Orientation program. Please be prepared to separate from your student after the Opening Ceremony and rejoin them at the end of Orientation.

Parent and Family Orientation check-in will occur in the same location and at the time as your student’s Orientation. Please remember to bring your student’s proof of health insurance and a copy of their immunization records.

To assist with your plans, view a list of local hotels and motels (PDF).

Your student will stay on campus in a residence hall during summer Orientation Sessions 1–5 or move into their permanent housing for Session 6 or Spring Orientation. Your student Orientation housing reservation is included in the Freshman Orientation sign-up form.

There is a $50 fee for each guest, ages 15 and older, who attend two-day summer Orientation sessions, and $40 for one-day Spring Orientation. The fees will be added to your student's account. This fee covers all Orientation costs, including some meals, and other services.

Schedules will be available through the mobile app closer to the Orientation session.  A web version of the Guidebook app is also available.

Parents and families are also invited to join us in August for Welcome Days Move-in Weekend events!
