Parents' Guide

Parents' Guide to accessing their student's academic records:

Federal Law, specifically the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), prohibits the release of academic records (grades, grade point average (GPA), attendance, etc.) unless the institution has the expressed permission of the student to do so.

St. Edward's University provides its students the ability to establish a guest or proxy account allowing parents or other designees to view certain academic records. This account is established and maintained solely by the student. Students are encouraged to establish proxy accounts during their initial registration at St. Edward's University, but may do so at any time.

Once established, the account directs the institution to release selected academic records and may allow St. Edward's University personnel to discuss issues related to the student's academic performance. The release of this information is restricted to electronic format; no hard copy documents are provided. Additionally, the student can add or delete individuals from the account at any time; likewise they can close the account at any time.

Encourage your student to view the training video that has instructions on granting Parent/Guest Access.

Official high school transcripts are required to complete the admission process:

Your student is required to submit an official and complete high school transcript to complete their admission process at St. Edward's University. Some students have submitted an incomplete or in progress high school transcript prior to graduating from high school. St. Edward's University requires an official high school transcript with all grades and a graduation date posted. Failure to comply with this requirement may adversely affect financial aid and eligibility for future registration activities.

Transcripts submitted to St. Edward’s for transfer evaluation become the permanent property of St. Edward’s and cannot, under any circumstances, be returned to the student. St. Edward’s will not generate copies of transcripts that originated at other institutions.
