Welcome to St. Edward’s University! We look forward to meeting you this summer during orientation. Some common questions asked from our incoming students are:

Do I need to make an appointment with a disability counselor before orientation?

No. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet with a disability counselor while you are here on campus. In fact, the best time to meet with a counselor is right after you make your schedule with your Academic Advisor which is perfect since we all work in the same office.

But…if you would like to make an appointment you can do that as well. Just give us a call at 512-448-8561.

What documentation do I need to provide?

Depending on what your diagnosis is, will depend on what type of documentation our office will need from you. You can find out more information by looking on our website under Documentation and Forms.

Can I send my documentation to your office before orientation?

Of course! You can email us any documentation or verification forms to SDS [at] stedwards.edu or fax to 512-464-8830, and attention them to Heidi Morse.

What will we talk about during this first appointment?

During this initial appointment you will meet with a disability counselor and talk in general about Student Disability Services accommodations and if additional documentation is needed. You will also discuss the process of requesting accommodation letters when you return in the fall. Please remember even if you meet with a disability counselor during orientation, all students need to make an intake appointment in order to be registered for accommodation in the fall semester. We begin intake appointments the first week of school.

Does my documentation have to be in English?

Student Disability Services prefers documentation be provided in English. Documentation received in a language other than English may delay the accommodation process and may require third party translation. Please contact our office as early as possible for a case by case consultation regarding non-English documentation.
