Non-SEU Internships
There are other international internships outside of the St. Edward's programs. We urge students who are considering an outside internship to talk to a Study Abroad advisor to learn about important questions to ask when vetting the internship and/or the organization. While not a comprehensive list, here are some things to consider when exploring international internships:
- Pre-departure preparations
- Visa requirements
- On-the-ground logistical support
- Health and safety support
- Housing
- Meals
- Cost of living
- Local transportation
- Commute
- Language skills
- Academic credit
Receiving Academic Credit for Your International Internship
There are options for credit-bearing and non-credit-bearing internships abroad. Some exchange and sponsored programs have credit-bearing internships available in their course offerings. If you wish to earn credit and need it for your major, you should speak with your success coach and/or faculty advisor about the approval process. You may also earn internship credits through Career and Professional Development and should speak with both a career coach and your Study Abroad advisor.
The St. Edward's University International Internship Program is not credit-bearing, but students have the option to earn credit through Career and Professional Development. If interested, please speak with your Study Abroad advisor.
