Video game companies with a significant presence in Austin include some of the industry’s most prominent studios and developers, such as Electronic Arts, BioWare, Disney Interactive Studios, NCSoft, Aspyr Media and many others. With many high-paying, entry-level jobs in the video game industry, there is high demand for a qualified and educated workforce that understands the special requirements of managing people within the field.

For example, you could become an assistant producer on a game for Electronic Arts, a playtester for BioWare®, a Q&A specialist at Aspyr®, a game industry financial analyst for Disney, or even start your own game studio. Students from the digital media programs at St. Edward’s have advanced to careers such as assistant producers, marketing specialists, social network managers and business analysts for game and digital media companies around the country.

Outside the Classroom

As a BBA in Interactive Games Management major, you’ll be immersed in the special business aspects of this exciting and growing industry. Along with your coursework in economics, marketing, management and other business disciplines, you’ll create one or more portfolio games in the St. Edward's Game Design Studio using industry-standard game-creation tools and software. A hands-on game design experience is usually reserved for students in technology or fine arts. St. Edward's program provides business students with insights equivalent to several years of real-world knowledge in the interactive gaming industry. As a result, graduates are prepared to confidently join the design process at most game companies.
