EVENT SCHEDULE  - POSTPONED - New Date Will Be Announced Soon

Self-Guided Hypothesis Hike

Nature is full of activity, and sometimes it is hard to figure out what exactly is going on. For example, why do birds sing? When do birds sing the most? Transform your hike at Wild Basin this week by trying to answer a particular question (or hypothesis) while you are on the trail. Be sure to pick up a ‘Hypothesis Hike' flyer near the trailhead and return your completed form at the end of the hike for a chance to win a prize. Every hike is different, even if you are on the same trail. You could take multiple hikes over the week, looking at a different hypothesis on each one.

This is a self-guided event and prize winners will be notified on our Facebook page. This activity is ideal for kids ages 5-15, but is accessible to anyone. Wonder is good for all ages!

Binoculars and Birds for Kids
10:00am - 11:00am and 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Ever see a small bird in a tree and wish you could get a better look? It turns out many of our local birds are very colorful! Binoculars are a great way to see these small birds - or really anything that is far away. Take a little time with your kids to learn how to use binoculars so that you don’t miss the next opportunity to see that bird a little better. It’s not rocket science, but a few tips will get you a long way. This 1-hour activity will also include some time on the trail finding objects. Don’t worry, we’ve got some hidden objects for you to find, even if no actual animals wander into our view. This activity is designed for kids ages 5-15 and an accompanying adult.

Limited to 15 kids (plus their adult).  Register here for 10:00am and Register here for 2:00pm.

Night Hike

Hiking boots are required. Participants should bring water to stay hydrated and will need to wear long pants, a lightweight long-sleeve shirt, and sturdy, closed-toe hiking shoes. You may bring a flashlight but prepare to leave it turned off during the hike. More specific information will be provided on event confirmation.
