Students Help Transform Transportation in Austin
In the Civics Lab class, Hilltoppers learn to influence public policy — in the real world, in real time, using their own voices. 20 students tackled Austin’s public transit challenges for college students and created a winning message for their audience.

Founders Day Honors the Brothers of Holy Cross
In October, Hilltoppers celebrated the Brothers of Holy Cross who established St. Edward’s and the university’s 136th birthday by taking part in our Founders Day events, including community service and special Masses at the university’s chapel and grotto.
Crime Scene Photography Lab Practices Innovative Techniques
Students practiced photography in the dark with glow sticks in a Crime Scene Photography class. They also learned how to photograph the luminescence that occurs upon applying Bluestar Forensic blood reagent as well as shooting trajectories with lasers.

Students for Sustainability Keep the Campus Garden Thriving
Led by Luke Tobias ’23, a Biology and Pre-Med major, volunteers helped manage the campus garden this fall — from planting and composting to adding raised beds. Organic produce was harvested and donated to local food banks and the on-campus food pantry.

Holiday Joy Lights Up St. Edward’s
Our 41st Annual Festival of Lights brought Hilltoppers together for inspiring music, prayer and reflection as we honored the beginning of the Advent Season. Immediately following, we celebrated Las Posadas with songs, piñatas, food and entertainment.
Theater Students Illuminate the Stage
Students in the Theater Arts and Acting programs worked alongside professional artists to stage hit productions, including “The Putnam County Spelling Bee” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” at the university’s award-winning Mary Moody Northen Theatre.

A Special Mass Begins Our Presidential Inauguration Events
In February, we held the historic inauguration of our 24th president, and first hispanic president, Dr. Montserrat Fuentes. Two days of festivities began with a Mass in the campus chapel to celebrate Dr. Fuentes and connect the Holy Cross community.

Lively Activities Celebrate the Day
The St. Edward’s cheer team spontaneously lifts Dr. Fuentes into a classic cheer stunt during an afternoon and evening of inauguration festivities that included a luncheon and cake cutting, Ballet Folklorico performance, food trucks and live music.
Students Compete in Battle of the Brains
7 Hilltoppers competed against students from across the nation in the annual HSI Battle of the Brains. Students developed a solution to business challenges presented, a marketing plan with collateral and a go-to-market strategy for a technology solution.

During The BIG Event, the largest annual student-run service project that connects students to organizations throughout Austin, the St. Edward’s community came together to say one BIG thanks on one BIG day through service-oriented activities.
