Career and Professional Development is here to help our students successfully transition from student to professional. Our comprehensive services in Moody Hall are open to all currently enrolled students and alumni.

Career and Professional Development has a wealth of resources to help you get the most out of your collage experience and beyond. 

  • Not sure about your career direction?  Career and Professional Development has several assessments you can take that are quick and free. Interested in a part time job?  Check out Hilltop Careers to find out about both on and off campus positions.
  • Need help with your resume?  Call or email for a personalized one-on-one appointment to review and revise your resume and cover letter.
  • You have an interview...what should you do to prepare?  Contact Career and Professional Develpment for some effective interviewing tips, or schedule a mock interview session, or utilize Interview Stream.
  • Interested in an internship?  Meet with a Career Counselor to find the right internship match.

Services Offered

For students  and alumni interested in building their skills, Career and Professional Development provides a variety of assistance including individual consultations, an exclusive jobs database, career development workshops and events, a list of helpful resources, and various career fairs.

Hilltop Careers

Hilltop Careers is an online jobs database that houses part time, full time and internship opportunities available for currently enrolled students and alumni. Please click here to visit HIlltop Careers.

Career Advising

Our career counselors are available to assist St. Edward's University students and alumni with a range of career-related issues on an individual basis, such at:

  • Develop your 4-year career action plan (Map Your Future)
  • Assess your skills and interests
  • Choose a major and exploring careers
  • Gain experience through internships
  • Consider and apply for graduate school
  • Search for jobs

Daily Walk-In Hours

The Career and Professional Development team offers students daily walk-in hours Monday - Friday from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Students will meet with career counselors for 15 minutes to discuss brief career related issues or questions. For more detailed discussions, students are encouraged to schedule a meeting with a career counselor by visiting Moody Hall 134 or calling 512.448.8530.

Late Hours

Career and Professional Development is open until 6 pm Monday thru Thursday. Career counselors are available to take appointments between 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm to help accommodate our students' schedules.

Resume Drop-Off Service

If you would like to have your resume critiqued but don't have time for a scheduled appointment, we recommend that you try our Resume Drop-Off Service. You may either stop by Moody Hall 134 or email our office your resume and within 2 business days, we will have the resume critiqued and ready for your to receive via email or in-person pick-up. There is no appointment is necessary. Please note this service is available for currently enrolled students and St. Edward's University alumni only.

Meet-Ups & Events

Career and Professional Development manages events and workshops throughout the year that provide career advice plus opportunities to connect with employers. This is a great way to attain in-depth information in an interactive-group setting. Meet-ups are held weekly Tuesday thru Thursday in Meet-Up Lounge in Moody Hall 134.

Mobile Career Center

Every Monday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the Ragsdale Lobby, Career and Professional Development hosts an information table for students. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about:

  • Internship search
  • Hilltop Careers
  • Interview preparation
  • Schedule appointments with staff
  • Information on upcoming events and weekly workshops
