Recognizing Accomplishments in Research and Creative Expression through SOURCE
The Symposium on Undergraduate Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE) will take place on Friday, April 24, 2026. SOURCE is a signature St. Edward’s University event that celebrates and showcases the original research and creative work of our students. As a cross-disciplinary forum, it fosters faculty–student engagement outside the structured classroom and provides opportunities for students to share their work with peers, faculty, university leadership, and invited guests.
This all-day event features in-person student presentations in two formats: oral presentations and poster sessions. To be considered, students must have a sponsoring faculty member and submit an abstract (up to 250 words). Abstracts may be submitted in English or Spanish, and presentations will be given in the language of the abstract.
Refreshments will be provided for all attendees as part of this day of learning, sharing, and celebration.

Preparing Your Presentation
Here’s what you need to know to get ready for presenting at SOURCE:
- Work with Your Faculty Mentor
Your faculty mentor can offer guidance on crafting your oral or poster presentation and help with the logistics (e.g., poster printing or slide feedback). - Poster Presentations
- Posters may be presented in either digital or printed format.
- If printing your poster, it must be sized at 36x48 inches.
- Presenters are responsible for printing and covering the cost of their posters.
- Tip: Ask your faculty mentor if your department or school has funding available to help cover printing costs.
- SOURCE will provide a foam board and tripod for printed posters.
- Oral Presentations
- You’ll have 15 minutes to present and 5 minutes for Q&A (20 minutes total).
- A visual aid is required—typically a slide deck made with PowerPoint or Google Slides.
- Event Details & Schedule
All presentations will take place in person.
The SOURCE Committee will follow up with additional instructions and your scheduled time slot as the event approaches.
Calling All Faculty: Encourage Your Students to Present at SOURCE
Do you have students who’ve completed outstanding academic or creative work? Encourage them to showcase their achievements by submitting a 250-word abstract to present at SOURCE (Symposium on Undergraduate Research & Creative Expression).
All that’s required of you is to serve as their sponsoring faculty mentor—simply have them include your name on their submission form. You’ll receive an email confirmation once they submit.
You may also choose to support your student by:
- Assisting with abstract writing
- Reviewing the SOURCE abstract evaluation rubric
- Helping them select a presentation format (oral or poster: digital or printed)
- Providing guidance on preparing the presentation.
Being a SOURCE mentor is a meaningful way to support your students, serve your discipline, and contribute to the university's culture of scholarly engagement.
We also encourage you to invite all your students to attend SOURCE—even if they aren’t presenting. It’s a valuable opportunity for students to witness research, scholarship, and creative work in action across disciplines.
🔹 All participating faculty mentors will receive a letter of appreciation from the SOURCE Committee.
Thank you for helping us build a strong culture of inquiry and expression at St. Edward’s University!
