Curt Yowell, Ph.D., is a media educator and civic tech builder who bridges the gap between journalism, technology, and community needs. As an Associate Professor of Practice in Journalism and Digital Media at St. Edward’s University, he develops curricula designed to train the next generation of news product thinkers, with original courses in AI, data visualization, and solutions journalism.

Applying a product mindset to student media, Dr. Yowell serves as the faculty adviser to St. Edward's student news organization, Hilltop Views. Under his leadership, the organization has implemented audience engagement and editorial innovation as core strategies, leading to an organizational record number of Texas Intercollegiate Press Association awards and a grant from the Solutions Journalism Network.

Dr. Yowell is an Innovation Fellow and the inaugural Wilburn Family Holy Cross Fellow.
