Dr. Ju uses mixed-methods approaches to study race/ethnicity, gender, international migration, health & social policy, social determinants of health, the non-profit sector, and urban politics in North America, Latin America, Europe, and East Asia. Teaching recognition she has received include the American Council of Learned Societies/Council of Independent Colleges Legacies of American Slavery Summer Syllabus Workshop Grant, St. Edward's University Hudspeth Award for Innovative Instruction, St. Edward's University Center for Teaching Excellence Innovation Fellowship, and St. Edward's University Center for Teaching Excellence Champion Award for Mission-Informed Teaching. Her book, Identities Matter: Politics of Immigration and Incorporation (Oxford University Press 2025) is now available electronically and will be available in hardcover on March 21, 2025. The book manuscript won a 2022 American Political Science Association Minority Serving Institution Virtual Book Workshop Award. Dr. Ju currently serves as Chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), co-chair of the Symposium on Undergraduate Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE) steering committee, and Coordinator for the Global Perspectives requirement for General Education.
