Message from the Provost
Welcome to the 2025–26 Academic Year!
Each new academic year brings excitement, a few nerves, and the familiarity of a schedule guided by the cadence of the academic calendar. As we welcome new students and faculty to our university community, we also prepare to celebrate university traditions including the Medallion Ceremony and Legacy Walk, Anchors Weekend, and the first day of class. It is an opportunity to celebrate our commitment to academic excellence and distinction, grounded in our university mission, and characterized by a rigorous and engaging curriculum that extensively leverages experimental learning opportunities such as internships, research experiences, study abroad, and service, in addition to our location in the vibrant Austin ecosystem.
Our Holy Cross heritage is also central to our approach to the educational process. The Founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross, Blessed Basile Moreau said. "How we educate the mind will change with the time; how we cultivate the heart is and will remain tireless". We are committed to the intellectual and the personal development of our students, and foster this development together, in community.
As we look to the future, I am excited to collectively embrace a spirit of innovation and mindset of abundance, as we chart our course in the evolving higher education landscape, rooted in the values of excellence, respect, collaboration, community and hope. Basil Moreau's words inspire us as we embark on the journey:
