St. Edward’s University ingrains a sense of perseverance and purpose that contributes to the success of all who walk through our doors, and we’re celebrating another amazing academic year! Our unstoppable spirit radiated throughout the hilltop with vibrant campus traditions, events honoring academic excellence, historic achievements and opportunities to serve our community. While there were many moments that we are proud of, we invite you to take a look back on some notable highlights.
A Historic Fall Semester Filled with Milestones and Festivities
A Homecoming to Remember
For the first time ever, Homecoming was held in the fall, and continued the tradition of bringing our community and friends together for a weekend filled with pride, nostalgia and celebration. The weekend also commemorated the 50th anniversaries of the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) and the beloved Mary Moody Northen Theatre (MMNT). Five decades later, CAMP and MMNT continue to provide our students with the learning experiences, mentorships and lifelong connections.
History Is Made
We wrapped up the semester with a historic Fall Commencement that was held on the hilltop! Along with cheering on our new undergraduate and graduate class, we witnessed seven students of the first-ever doctoral cohort earn their degrees from the university’s new Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Leadership and Higher Education program.

Across Texas and the nation, the need for nursing professionals remains in high demand and our nursing education will prepare and develop highly-skilled and trained nurses for careers at the forefront of health equity and access for everyone.
Generous Support for First-Gen Latino Students
St. Edward’s University became the first private institution in Texas to receive a grant from the Hector and Gloria López Foundation (HGLF) — benefiting our first-generation Latino students. Beginning in Fall 2023 and for the next five years, more than $2.1 million will be used to assist 15 López Scholars with tuition, housing, paid internships, study abroad programs and more.
Stepping Beyond the Red Doors
Our remarkable year wrapped with the culminating event that every student looks forward to — Commencement! Families, friends and the St. Edward's University community came together on the hilltop to celebrate our graduates as they walked the stage to receive their well-earned diplomas. And among this year's graduates are 11 Presidential Award winners. Congratulations to our Class of 2022-23! We wish you all the best on your next adventure as you take on your world.
