St. Edward's Awarded $2.1M+ Grant

The Hector and Gloria López Foundation (HGLF) has awarded a more than $2.1 million grant to St. Edward’s University — benefiting first-generation Latino students. Beginning in the Fall of 2023 and for the next five years, 15 López Scholars will receive full tuition assistance, as well as other resources including mentorship, tutoring, housing, study abroad programs, paid internships, leadership development and more.

St. Edward’s is the only Austin institution — and the first private university in Texas — to receive this grant. Through our new partnership with HGLF, the López Scholars grant will solidify the hilltop as a destination university for first-generation Latino students.

Our photo gallery and video below capture the joyous moments shared among HGLF CEO Sergio Rodríguez, St. Edward’s University President Montserrat Fuentes, Diocese of Austin Bishop Joe S. Vásquez and other St. Edward’s University supporters as they celebrated this historic occasion at the hilltop!
