The Kozmetsky Center brings together experts, students, faculty and the broader public in a variety of forums.
Past speakers have included American and foreign diplomats, policymakers, university scholars, and leaders of the business, non-profit, and cultural communities. We also periodically host short-term resident visiting scholars and practitioners from the United States and around the world to share their expertise and diverse perspectives with the St. Edward’s University community.
Fall 2026 Community Forums
This fall, the Kozmetsky Center for Civic Engagement invites you to a series of public forums exploring some of the issues shaping our campus, our city, and our community.
We will kick off the semester with two forums asking: Is Austin still (or has it ever been) the live music capital of the world? On September 22, musicians and creative Austinites will explore the future of Austin’s music scene, followed by a second conversation on October 6 focused on producers, ticketing agencies, and venues. Both events will include opportunities for music, food, networking, and conversation.
As we approach the 2026 midterm elections, the Kozmetsky Center will also host two timely civic forums. On October 27, representatives from both parties and relevant political experts will discuss the upcoming elections and what they could mean for national, state, and local policymaking. Then, on November 10, academics, journalists, and political commentators will gather to assess what happened in the midterms and what the results may mean for American democracy. We hope you’ll join us as we bring campus, city, and community together for thoughtful conversation and civic engagement - friends and family welcome!
