We Welcome and Support Our Transfer Students

Joining a college community that’s the right fit for you is a smart way to pursue your educational goals and career interests. But transferring from one school to another involves special steps and requirements. At St. Edward’s, we’re committed to making your transition to our vibrant community as smooth as possible. We want you to feel at home here.

From the moment you enroll at St. Edward’s and throughout your first semester, a transfer counselor will assist you as you adjust to life on the hilltop. You’ll meet with your counselor before and at Orientation, and as often as you need to during the semester. Your counselor will make sure you’re aware of — and know how to access — the personalized support services we offer transfer students. Here’s an overview of what you can expect:

Advising and Registration Assistance:

  • Once you’ve enrolled at St. Edward’s, your transfer counselor will meet with you to discuss the details of transferring your credits and help you collect all transcripts so that you receive your course credits in a timely manner. Your counselor will also work with you to register for your first-semester classes.
  • At Orientation, you’ll go over the many resources available to you on the hilltop and begin taking advantage of two campus resources: You’ll meet with the Career and Professional Development team to talk about your academic plan and life aspirations, and with Student Financial Services to review your financial aid package and college expenses. And you can register for classes if you haven’t done so already.

Academic Support:

  • During your first semester, your transfer counselor will be your go-to person for academic advising. Your counselor will also introduce you to faculty and staff in the school of your major. In your second semester, you’ll have a dedicated academic advisor within your school who will guide you on your academic path the rest of your time at St. Edward’s.
  • Looking for extra help with a tough course? Your counselor can connect you to our academic support services, such as peer tutoring, supplemental instruction, the Math Lab and the Writing Center.
  • One of the best ways to stay on top of your class assignments (and avoid coursework stress) is to practice good study habits. Your counselor can show you how to sharpen your study and time management skills.

Getting Involved on Campus:

Whatever your interests, you can explore them at St. Edward’s — from leadership activities to community service to club sports. Your transfer counselor will put you in touch with students and staff in offices across campus, such as Student Activities, Diversity and Inclusion, Campus Ministry, and Recreation and Wellness, who will welcome your involvement.
