The School of Health Sciences is launching the first-ever Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program, designed for registered nurses seeking to advance their careers and take on greater leadership or clinical responsibilities.

The flexible, online program supports working professionals as they build advanced skills in healthcare leadership, patient care and evidence-based practice.

With applications now open for the Healthcare Leadership concentration beginning in Fall 2026, the program reflects the university’s commitment to addressing the growing need for highly skilled nursing professionals and strengthening healthcare outcomes in Texas and beyond.

In addition, the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) has approved candidacy status for the Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) program. This milestone means the program has officially entered candidacy status and will be able to begin admitting students in Fall 2026.

The Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve celebrated its 50th anniversary as a cornerstone of conservation and environmental education in Central Texas.

At the heart of the preserve is the Wild Basin Creative Research Center, a St. Edward’s-owned and operated field station where students engage in hands-on research in a living laboratory.

Through the Center, students conduct meaningful, real-world studies that advance conservation, support ecological stewardship and deepen understanding of local ecosystems.

The Hilltop is now home to Central Texas’ first-ever Tiny Forest, a 600-square-foot densely planted space featuring more than 160 trees and shrubs.

Located near Lucian-Hamilton Baseball Field and East Hall, the forest uses the Miyawaki Method to accelerate growth, enhance biodiversity and increase carbon sequestration in a compact area. The forest is projected to become fully self-sustaining within two to three years and reach heights of up to 15 feet by 2030.

Serving as a living laboratory for students, the Tiny Forest reflects an innovative approach to sustainability that combines environmental impact with hands-on learning and ecological research.

Two Commencements, One Hilltop Celebration

The Fall and Spring semesters of 2025–2026 culminated in meaningful celebrations honoring our graduates at both the December and May Commencement ceremonies. Students, faculty, staff, families and friends gathered to recognize our graduates as they received their bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

This year’s graduating class also included some of the 10 Presidential Award recipients whose experiences at St. Edward’s have shaped their leadership, strengthened their commitment to service and empowered them to create positive change in their communities.

We proudly celebrate the Class of 2025–2026 and look forward to all they will accomplish beyond the Hilltop.
