As part of your Orientation experience, you’ll be introduced to and develop a relationship with your success coach. Your success coach will be your go-to person for anything you might need over the next four years. We rounded up these helpful tips to keep in mind before your first meeting with your success coach this summer.
Share your Story.
Based on your completed Advising Questionnaire, your success coach already knows the basics about you. But there’s definitely more to you than that! Tell us what's important to you and what you are looking forward to your first year on the hilltop. Your success coach wants to learn about your dream job and your least favorite subject. The more your success coach knows about you, the more they can support you and connect you to resources that will enrich your St. Edward's experience.
Transparency is your best tool.
No preparation is necessary before you meet with your success coach, but it is important to be your authentic, transparent self. There are no wrong answers that you could give or silly questions that you could ask during a conversation with your success coach. So to get the most out of your time at St. Edward's, be as open with your success coach as possible.
Get ready to collaborate.
No two incoming students are the same. Based on your interests, your success coach will collaborate with you to create a college experience that's as unique as you are. In your first collaboration with your success coach, you'll build your course schedule for the upcoming semester. And before the semester begins, you will co-create a personalized academic plan for your first year that will help you accomplish both your academic and personal goals.

We understand that it may feel strange to meet your success coach for the first time in a Zoom meeting. Your success coach understands that you are likely experiencing real challenges right now, from internet connectivity to noisy siblings. But rest assured that your conversation with your success coach will be inspiring, informative and supportive!
