Dr. Nunes is an associate professor of Global Studies and Political Science.

Dr. Nunes is a native Brazilian and has taught at St. Edward's since 2010. His research interests include judicial politics, Latin American politics, and criminal justice reform. His work has explored the political determinants of judicial empowerment in Latin America, the rise of rights-based judicial activism in Colombia, and the adoption of softer sentencing rules in Brazil. He regularly teaches political science courses with a Latin American content, as well as Introduction to Comparative Politics and Senior Seminar in Global Studies. Dr. Nunes is also interested in American constitutional law, and occasionally teaches a course on civil liberties.
