AUSTIN (KXAN) – This Mother’s Day went down in history for one Central Texas mom. She reached a major milestone and hopes her actions inspire others to never give up.

Pam Folsom learned a lesson from her 81-year-old strategic management professor – you are never too old to do anything. Folsom hoped to graduate college before turning 55.

On Saturday, she graduated with a marketing degree from St. Edward’s University at the age of 53. However, she didn’t do it alone. Her daughter Brittany was by her side, working toward a degree in business management at the same time.

“We’re competitive and hard working so that runs in the family,” Brittany said.

There is a 30-year age gap between the pair, but both have been juggling work and night classes. Pam has her own real estate business and an office job. Brittany is an assistant manager at a hair salon.

“We’re here in the same place, but we’re definitely doing different ambitions – both trying to rock the world,” Brittany said.
