What do you mean by gifts of time, talent, and treasure?

Philanthropy is about generosity in all its forms. There’s more than one reason to #LoveBlue — that means there’s more than one way to #GiveGold!

Your gift of time is unique because you are the only one who can give it. Your presence at virtual or on-campus events strengthens our connection as a Hilltop community. We hope you’ll give your time and take advantage of one of our on-demand activities this year.

Your gift of talent is a virtue only you can give. Your service as a Hilltop advocate or volunteer sustains and strengthens our Holy Cross values. We hope you’ll give your talent as a GiveCampus Advocate and spread the word about #LBGG online.

Your gift of treasure is an essential, tangible resource that only you can give. No matter the size, your donation deepens a pool of support for classroom materials, student services, campus clubs and programs, experiential learning opportunities, and so much more. We hope you’ll give your treasure to your favorite Hilltop funds during #LBGG.

While crowdfunding campaigns like Love Blue Give Gold typically emphasize gifts of treasure more than gifts of time and talent, all are vital to upholding our Holy Cross mission. We can’t thank you enough for your generosity!

Which funds should I support?

Whether you give $2, $20, or $200 — your generosity changes lives on the Hilltop. We hope you’ll make a gift of any size to support any campus program that’s meaningful to you.

If you still can’t decide, consider designating your gift to the Area of Greatest Need. These flexible, earmarked dollars touch every facet of the campus experience and allow the university to be nimble and resilient in response to emerging community needs. Here are just a few examples of what gifts to the Area of Greatest Need support:

  • Scholarships – including need-based financial aid. Your generosity ensures that talented students from all backgrounds can find their home on the hilltop, regardless of their financial circumstances.
  • Student Support and Activities – including career advising, health and counseling services, student clubs and activities, and more.
  • Academic Instruction and Experiential Learning – including technology, online journal acquisitions, classroom materials, advanced research opportunities and paid internships, mission-driven service initiatives, and more.

Is my Love Blue Give Gold gift tax-deductible?

Yes, gifts to St. Edward's are always tax-deductible (including during #LBGG!). You will receive an email confirmation that will serve as your receipt for tax purposes. If you do not receive this email confirmation, please email seulbgg@stedwards.edu for help.

Can I make a recurring gift during Love Blue Give Gold?

Please do! Recurring donors ensure our Hilltop's ongoing strength and stability. When making your gift, simply check “Make this gift yearly or monthly to support Hilltoppers year-round!” and input your preferences.

Can I make my gift by mail or phone?

Due to the short timeframe of the campaign, only gifts received before Love Blue Give Gold ends on October 6 at 11:59 p.m. CT will count toward our donor goal.

If you'd like a University Advancement staff member to assist you with making a gift over the phone, please call 512-448-8430 and leave a detailed message with your name and contact information. We'll do our best to get back to you by 5 p.m. on October 6.

Does 100% of my gift go to my designated area?

Yes! When you make a gift, every single penny of your support goes directly to the fund of your choosing — that’s why gifts of any size make such a big difference for students.
