Alexandra L. Barron
Assoc Professor Univ Studies
Dr. Barron is an Assistant Professor in University Studies who teaches classes on literature, film, and Women's & Gender Studies. She is the Director of the Freshman Studies Program and the Faculty Advisor to PRIDE.
Dr. Barron teaches classes at every level of St. Edward's general education sequence from the Freshman Studies course she co-teaches with Dr. Flynn, Global Film & Literature, to Capstone. She also teaches a number of Gender Studies classes including Gay & Lesbian Literature and Gender & Globalization. As the Director of the Freshman Studies Program, Dr. Barron oversees the selection on the Common Text every year, the book all incoming students read before they arrive on campus. Recent past selections include Half the Sky, World War Z, and Brain on Fire. This past summer she led a Study Abroad trip to Bangladesh and in the spring took the leaders of PRIDE to the Creating Change conference.
