John E. Knorr
Dr. Knorr is a professor of Kinesiology in the School of Education. His courses focus mainly on areas related to sports management such as sport marketing, management of sport programs, and the legal issues related to sport.
Dr. Knorr has had a varied career. He joined the faculty in 1977 and in addition to faculty responsibilities has served as Director of Athletics and Head Baseball coach. As Athletic Director he initiated and completed the transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II. He was actively involved in the growth of women's athletics on campus adding softball, soccer, and cross country. He assisted in the design and construction of the RCC, Daniels Softball Field, and the current soccer facility. He served on the committee that added the Sport Management degree to the Kinesiology program. His textbook "Applying Sport Management Concepts" was published in September, 2014. He was inducted in the St. Edward's University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. He was honored with the university's Distinguished Career Award in 2017. He is currently a member of the Alumni Association Board as the Faculty Representative.
